Day Skipper Shore based (5 days)

Beginners and Crew who would like to become actively involved in navigation should attend. The syllabus arms would be skippers with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. 40 hours and 2 exam papers.

RYA Basic Navigation and Safety

This course introduces a whole new group of boat users to RYA training. If you are a powerboater, sea angler, diver, boatmaster, experienced dinghy and keelboat sailor or inshore racer then you will find this course very useful.  With a syllabus including charts and publications, safety and engine checks, buoyage, tidal awareness, visual navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts and passage planning. There is no end of course exam as students will be assessed throughout. (Course Price £180).

Coastal Skipper/Yacht Master Offshore Shorebased Course
(5 days)

A course for more experienced skippers which takes them up to the theory knowledge required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Practical Examination. 40 hours and 3 exam papers.

Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased Course (5 days)

For long distance sailors, this course covers astro navigation and ocean passage making- it also elucidates the mysteries of the sextant. 40 hours.

Yachtmaster Ocean Oral Exam (Half day)

Oral examination on passage details and sun sight information - can only be taken if the applicant has successfully completed the Yachtmaster Offshore practical exam.

Radar (1 day)

One day course increasingly popular on both sailing and power boats, this is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance, but it is only useful in the hands of a knowledgeable operator.

Diesel Engine Maintenance Course (1 day)

Mechanical failure is the main cause of lifeboat callouts to yachts. The day includes basic maintenance and engine care, which will prevent most cases of engine failure.

 

First Aid (1 day)

One day First Aid course designed for the small boat users.

 

VHF/DSC (1 day)

A one day course for the Short Range Certificate (SRC) covers all the radio procedures.
